At Gapped, we are passionate about cycling and the incredible sense of freedom, joy, and empowerment it brings. As a grassroots organization, we believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the thrill of cycling. That’s why we’re excited to launch our kids’ rides, designed to nurture talent and provide a pathway into British Cycling’s Olympic Pathway.
Our rides, currently available weekly in East London and weekly in Hounslow, are led by qualified British Cycling Coaches, many of whom are experienced school teachers with QTS. We work closely with British Cycling to develop future riders, ensuring that talented individuals are spotted and supported. Safety is our top priority, with all coaches DBS-checked, First Aid trained, and supported by a low adult-to-child ratio for personalized attention.
In addition to our regular rides, we are proud to partner with councils like Hounslow to develop cycling in their borough. Through initiatives such as running cycling clubs and delivering school programs like the Pedal Push program, we aim to make cycling accessible and engaging for children across the community.
Whether your child is joining us for a skills session, an adventurous ride, or a school program, you can trust that they are in capable hands. We are dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and memorable experience while helping young riders develop their skills and explore their potential.

Please reach out to us below if you have any other questions!
Our sessions are designed for those who already know how to ride and want to develop their skills further. However, once a week in Hanworth Park, we offer Learn to Ride sessions for teens.
Most of our rides are geared towards the British Cycling Youth Development Framework. Some rides are more catered towards advanced riders, where we take to the road. And we also offer Learn to Ride sessions - Check the Spond app for details of each session.
We coach children from ages 7-16. If your child is a little younger but is a competent cyclist, we'd love to have them!
Some rides are catered for older riders and some for younger riders. Please see relevant poster and ride details before signing up.
At Gapped, we work closely with the British Cycling City Academies project to identify and nurture cycling talent in children aged 6-14 across all disciplines. If selected for the pathway, children are invited to train at the velodrome and/or the BMX circuit in Stratford, where they can further refine their skills before moving on to competitive events.
Majority of our sessions are free! Bike and helmet hire are often free too! Check the app for details.
We request all participants to sign up via the Spond app, using code TPXLN. We highly advise not to turn up unannounced as we wish to keep within our set adult : child ratios.
We offer free quality bike & helmet hire at Goodmayes & Hounslow and £3 at Valentines Park.
When the sessions and bike maintenance are funded by the council or British Cycling, we are able to offer them at no cost. However, when Gapped covers the costs of running the sessions and maintaining the bikes, we charge a fee to help cover staffing and maintenance expenses.
Yes!
Helmet and bike if not hiring. Try to avoid loose clothes that can't be tucked in for the duration of the session (we don't want oil stains!)
A bottle of water and a snack would be good too! We do tend to ride allot!
If you can't make a session, no sweat, the next ones on us!
Pay close attention to the Spond app, where any cancelled sessions will be announced. We may pause if there is passing showers, but we will continue in most cases.
Have you joined our mailing list to be the first to hear about our adventures!?
