Saturday 25 July - Monday 27 July
The Teen EU Tour is a three-day ride designed specifically for young riders who are ready to explore beyond the park loop and onto the continent. This isn’t racing and it isn’t a holiday — it’s the perfect middle ground: structured, safe, social, and genuinely exciting. Riders will travel together, carry their own kit, learn road etiquette, navigate new towns, and build confidence one mile at a time.
Day 1 begins in East London, with a train to Dover and ferry crossing to Dunkirk before riding 22 miles into Belgium. De Panne, a calm beach town, is our base — sand, sea, and space to unwind after a first taste of European riding.
Day 2 takes us on a 35-mile loop through quiet Belgian lanes, historic squares and postcard towns like Nieuwpoort and Veurne. Wide paths, flat routes, safe cycling infrastructure — the continent is made for young riders to explore properly.
On Day 3, we roll back to Dunkirk, cross to Dover, and return to Stratford with stories, miles and memories in tow.
Parents are welcome to join but not required.
The ride is fully led by qualified, DBS-checked British Cycling coaches with extensive experience delivering youth tours abroad. Training sessions will be held in advance, ensuring every rider feels prepared, confident and part of the group.
This is independence done right: supported, supervised, and unforgettable.
This is more than a ride — it’s a carefully supported step into independence.
Our Teen EU Tour is built on years of experience delivering safe, structured youth trips across Belgium and Holland.
There will be plenty of preparation.
Training rides will take place in the weeks leading up to the tour, giving riders time to build confidence, learn group skills, understand route etiquette and feel fully ready for riding on the continent.
Parents will receive clear guidance too — packing, logistics, ferry details, bike setup and everything in between.
No one is expected to just show up and cope.
This is a supported, steady introduction to riding abroad: flat paths, calm lanes, coastal towns and a pace designed for young legs with expert supervision throughout.
Return travel from Stratford International to Dover is included in the package, ensuring a smooth and coordinated start and finish for all riders.
The Dover–Dunkirk ferry crossing (outbound and return) is included, with coaches overseeing all boarding, travel and transitions.
Two nights in De Panne are included. Accommodation will be shared and supervised, with riders placed appropriately and safely.
Free regular preparation rides will run from Valentines Park, Ilford in the months prior to departure. These sessions are delivered by qualified British Cycling coaches to ensure every rider feels confident and ready.
This tour is led by experienced youth coaches and ride leaders who have delivered this format many times before. They will guide, prepare and support your child throughout — from first training ride to final mile.
Each rider will receive an official Gapped jersey or long-sleeve T, as part of the tour. Helping riders feel part of the team.
For riders based in Ilford, the day can begin with an optional short 5-mile roll to Stratford International — a calm start on familiar roads before the real journey begins.
From Stratford, we take the train to Dover, followed by a gentle ride to the port. After boarding the ferry to Dunkirk, riders will have space to rest, explore and grab lunch while crossing the Channel.
We land in France mid-afternoon, ready for our first European ride: 22 miles on flat coastal roads, crossing into Belgium and finishing in De Panne. It’s a relaxed seaside town with wide promenades, calm cycle paths and halal food options for dinner. Once checked into the hotel, riders can wind down, reset and get their first taste of riding abroad done and dusted.
After breakfast from the local supermarket, we set off for a 35-mile loop through Northern Belgium’s quiet lanes and postcard towns. Places like Veurne, Nieuwpoort and Diksmuide offer historic squares, cobbled streets, striking architecture and café stops that make riding here feel both safe and special.
This is Europe at its best for young riders: flat, scenic, segregated cycle paths and a pace that allows riders to explore without pressure.
We return to De Panne by early afternoon, leaving plenty of time to unwind on the beach, grab an ice cream or simply stretch out and enjoy the coast.
Lunch will typically be at a local café, with dinner at one of De Panne’s halal spots.
We roll west towards France, back to Dunkirk, with familiar roads now under confident legs. After boarding the ferry, riders can relax, eat and enjoy the crossing before returning to Dover. From the port, we ride to the station, catch the train back to Stratford — and for those local — finish with an easy ride home.
Meals are not included in the tour, giving riders the freedom to choose what they enjoy across the trip. Breakfast each morning will be a simple stop at the local supermarket in De Panne, where riders can pick up fresh pastries, fruit, yoghurt and drinks before we roll out. Lunch will usually be taken at cafés along the route, with plenty of time to refuel, sit down and enjoy the slower pace of continental riding.
Dinner each evening will be at halal-friendly spots in De Panne, giving riders a reassuring end to the day with familiar options after new surroundings and new miles. Food is also available on the ferry both ways, ensuring riders are never without the chance to top up energy levels as we travel.
