Gapped introduces the innovative concept of an 'ultra-introduction,' serving as a gateway to more significant events on the cycling calendar. Participation in such events within our community has been limited, often due to the perceived challenge and apprehension associated with taking the initial step.
Our goal is to attract riders from diverse backgrounds in the cycling world, whether they are seeking personal challenges or aiming to satisfy their competitive nature. For those craving a challenging ride, this event delivers exactly that, while those with a competitive spirit will face formidable opponents.
The race offers flexibility, allowing participants to choose between a solo or paired approach, adhering to the standard ultra rules*. Adding a unique twist, mandatory stops for sleep and prayers are incorporated each night. This distinctive feature aims to make the racing experience more inclusive and accommodating, easing the daunting nature of such events.
In our commitment to accessibility, we've strategically chosen London as both the starting and ending point, given the substantial support from our local community. To further enhance accessibility, we permit pre-booking of hotels, mitigating last-minute cost escalations. Additional details and adjustments can be found on our 'rules' page, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable introduction to the world of racing.
We have tried incredibly hard to make this event as accessible as possible, allowing some 'bending' of the usual rules within the world of ultras. This includes allowing pre-booking night stays and buddying up outside of your team to do so. Nonetheless, we need to have some framework in order to prepare riders for future challenges. You can read the rules and details of the ride and scoresheet here...
